Third times a charm. After failing to reach the summit twice last year due to weather and a weak snow bridge, I finally made it on Sunday. The weather was perfect and we had clear skies throughout the night and into the morning. We left the trailhead around 10 am on Saturday and made it to camp in the early afternoon. I managed to get more sleep than I thought I would and woke up at 1 am to get ready for the climb. We were on our way up towards the glacier a little after 2 am.
From what I have heard, the Easton Glacier route is not in that great of condition for this time of year. However, I found the conditions to be better than I was expecting. It may have been the fact that the last time I was up there was in late August when the glacier was extremely melted out and crevasses were everywhere. We did encounter a few snow bridges that looked like they could go out in the near future and ended up using pickets just to be safe. If you are planning to do this route this year, I would recommend doing it as soon as possible.
