The Beach at Fort De Soto Park

One of my goals for 2010 is to check out as many beaches as I can here in Florida. The main reason being that each beach seems to be unique in its own way. With that in mind, I decided to go and check out the beach at Fort De Soto Park yesterday.

Fort De Soto Park was named America’s Top Beach by TripAdvisor in 2009. It appears that they loved the “spectacular combination of soft white sand, calm, clear water and a laid-back atmosphere.”

I can completely agree with all the above, as I found it to be my favorite Florida beach so far. It really amazed me as to how white the sand was and how clear the water appeared. Unfortunately, it was still a tad too cold to actually get in the water.

MacJournal Review

Over the past few months, I have been using MacJournal on a daily basis. If you missed it, I specifically mentioned the application in my post The Art of Journal Writing.

I decided that I love this application so much that I wanted to do a complete review of it and give you a few reasons as to why I continue to use it.

By no means is this a sponsored review, I simply like the product and enjoy sharing tools that I personally find useful.

So here is an even closer look at what MacJournal is capable of and why I highly recommend giving it a shot if you are a Mac user.

It Is Simple

Let me start by saying that this program has plenty of features, yet it still remains simple to use. I have never been a fan of applications that are far more powerful than I need. The more bells and whistles an application has, the more clutter I have to fight through to actually do what I want with it.

The way MacJournal works is very similar to how an email client works. It reminds me of Apple Mail in my ways.

Sunset on Treasure Island

Of all the reasons I moved to Florida, the ocean was the most important one. Ever since I lived in Hawaii I have been addicted to what it has to offer. Not only is the ocean an awesome place to swim and hang out, but it also creates the coolest sunsets I have ever seen. The photo above was taken last night on Treasure Island.

Watching the sun drop down below the water is an incredible experience and something everyone needs to experience in their lifetime. It’s pretty crazy how fast it starts to drop once it gets near the horizon.

Go Green, Save Money

As most of you know, I’m a big fan of frugal living. But I also try to keep my carbon footprint as small as possible. I’m a huge advocate of living an earth-friendly lifestyle and try to conserve as much as possible.

However, it seems that whenever I mention the idea of a green lifestyle to people I meet, they often act surprised. They assume that living frugally and being green is an impossible task. The truth is, being green can actually help your frugal lifestyle. It can save you money in a lot of areas you might often overlook.

Being green does not mean you have to go out and buy all the green friendly gadgets you can find. It’s more about consuming less in your every day life. However, I do recommend a lot of green friendly products to people because they are better for the environment and our purchases help support the companies that make them. That way they can continue to produce more of their products and compete with the non-green alternatives.
