Since switching over to a natural diet, I have been spending a lot more time checking out various places to get fresh produce and organic products. This past weekend I went and checked out Sweetwater Organic Community Farm, which is an awesome little farm located in Tampa.
I enjoyed the farm and market so much that I wanted to do a quick review of it and help spread the word.
About The Farm
Sweetwater Organic Community Farm is a nonprofit community-supported urban farm that was started back in 1995. It is located on 6 acres of land in the Town ‘n’ Country neighborhood of Tampa.
One of the cool things about the farm is that they offer a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) membership program. This is something I learned about recently while reading a health related blog and was immediately interested in the idea.
Basically, you sign up for the program and then each week you receive a share of the fresh produce. Usually it consists of a box of fresh vegetables, fruits, etc. It is a great way to support local farmers as well as get the freshest produce possible.
Sweetwater Organic Community Farm also offers various educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and a bunch of other cool stuff. I must say, it is one cool little farm and much different than I was expecting.
The farmers markest at Sweetwater Farm runs every Sunday from 12 PM – 4 PM. It is open to the public and is a great place to go meet some local farmers and learn some interesting things about food and green living.
There a handful of vendors that sell everything from pet products to organic coffee grown here in Florida. My girlfriend managed to get an amazing scented candle and it has been burning ever since.
Besides having products for sale, the market also offers workshops as well as live music. They had a solar power workshop there this past weekend.
A Few Pictures
Here are a few pictures I took while attending the market on Sunday:

The farm is located at 6942 West Comanche Avenue in Tampa, Florida. It is off the corner of Hillsborough Avenue and Hanley Road near the Tampa Airport.
